Cecilia Wilson Announces Campaign For Snohomish County Council
February 18, 2019
Cecilia Wilson is a working mom, respected community leader, and manages constituent services for the County Executive’s Office. Today, she is announcing her candidacy for the Snohomish County Council representative for District 2.
The second district is currently represented by Brian Sullivan, whose term limited tenure comes to an end this year.
Cecilia has built a successful career as a public servant, working for Snohomish County, and in the private sector. She is a resident of Everett, where her two sons attend public schools.
“My top priority as a Snohomish County Councilmember will be to work hard, represent all of our neighbors, and ensure we build on our current success. I will focus on the opioid crisis, improving public safety, innovative solutions to affordable housing, and advocating for funds to help fix our congested roads. I want to create more opportunities for the public to participate in the process and to share in our success. Snohomish County is already such a great place, but we can be even better if we work together.”
“For over twenty years, Cecilia Wilson has worked hard behind the scenes to provide county residents with excellent customer service. She’s a trusted leader who has helped to shape Snohomish County with her smart, common sense approach,” said County Executive Dave Somers. “Cecilia is uniquely prepared for this position with her combination of government and private sector experience.”
Cecilia plays a central role in the county’s continuous improvement initiative which focuses on improving customer service and finding efficiencies through Lean principles. Prior to her work with the County Executive’s Office, Cecilia worked for 19 years as a Legislative Aide to a number of former county councilmembers. Her private sector career includes serving as the Records Manager at the Law Firm of Keller Rohrbach and eight years with Nordstrom, where she honed her public service skills.
“I worked with Cecilia Wilson on the Law and Justice Committee. She understands criminal justice issues. Her unique perspective and expertise will serve this county well,” said Ellen Fair.
“We have exciting opportunities right now in Snohomish County with Paine Field commercial air service and many other new projects. I have worked closely with Cecilia Wilson and I know she can hit the ground running to make the most of these opportunities,” said Snohomish County Council Chair Terry Ryan.
Wilson earned a Bachelor of Arts from Seattle University. She is an enthusiastic advocate for advancing opportunities for our community. Cecilia will work every day to lead Snohomish County toward a prosperous and dynamic future.
Cecilia’s early endorsements include Executive Dave Somers, Council Chair Terry Ryan, Sheriff Ty Trenary, Ellen Fair, County Clerk Sonya Kraski and former Everett Mayor Ray Stephenson.
“I love Snohomish County. I’m looking forward to getting out into our community and talking with the voters,” said Wilson. “I know that my experience has prepared me well to be a county councilmember and I can’t wait to serve my community in this capacity.”
